Said goodbye to my parents this morning. 30 minutes into our hike some serious lightning and hail started coming down. Saw Old Grey Mare as she was slackpacking south. Met her on Max Patch a while ago. Hiked and talked with Eagle Eye & Jack a bit. Tried to build a fire tonight... failed. Tried to bear bag two trees... failed. Anna blew up my neoair because she's amazing. Then she found a tick on her tummy and we pulled it off with tweezers. What a day.

This was the first of several ticks we would find on the Trail (and on ourselves). I think some people may be afraid of bears, snakes or people... but for me, lightning was number 1, ticks were number 2. Lyme disease can mess you up, and those critters are so stinkin' small!
